(17-10-23) HARGEISA — Ahmed Aden Jama, Minister of Rural Development, was removed from office by Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi, following a video leak where Jama was seen criticising the President. The abrupt dismissal came mere hours after Jama was seen walking in public with the President and other ministers on Tuesday.
The video, believed to have been secretly recorded while Jama was in the United Arab Emirates, accused President Bihi of creating forces aimed at kidnapping individuals and questioned his handling of issues related to the Laascaanood war.
Rabbi Abdi Mohamed Mohamud has been swiftly appointed as the new Minister of Rural Development in an immediate response to the scandal.
