(17-02-24) ADDIS ABABA (Halqabsi News) — Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Government of Somalia, met with ambassadors of the Arab League countries stationed in Ethiopia, at the AU summit sidelines on Saturday. The discussion focused on the Horn of Africa and wider global challenges.
President Mohamud expressed his appreciation for the Arab League’s consistent support of Somalia. He highlighted Somalia’s nomination for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2025-2026 term, marking it as the only East African nation to achieve this feat.
The meeting was attended by key members of the Somali delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama and Ambassador to Ethiopia, Abdullahi Mohamed Warfaa. The gathering aimed at strengthening ties and discussing mutual interests in regional stability and development.
