(30 July 2024) BOSASO (Halqabsi News) – Puntland security forces dealt a major blow to illegal arms trafficking on Monday night, seizing a cache of heavy weapons and military supplies in a raid on a residential compound in Bossaso.The bust raises concerns about the potential use of these weapons in fueling regional instability.
During the raid, security officials recovered a significant number of weapons, including light and heavy arms, along with ammunition and military uniforms. The operation targeted a specific house in Bossaso based on critical information provided by a key suspect recently apprehended for illegal weapons trafficking.
This seizure comes amid growing concerns over illegal arms trafficking in the country, following a similar incident in Abudwak earlier this month. Authorities have vowed to crack down on the illicit trade, which poses a significant threat to security in the region.
