(30 Sep 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Acting Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, Salah Ahmed Jama, concluded the Somali Bankers Union’s Annual Conference, in Mogadishu. The conference focused on “Opening New Frontiers in Somalia’s Financial Sector,” addressing the future of the country’s banking system.
Participants presented research highlighting the development of Somalia’s banking sector, exploring opportunities for economic growth and the challenges the financial system faces. The discussions revolved around enhancing financial infrastructure and fostering collaboration between the government and the banking sector.
In his remarks, DPM Jama praised Somali banks for their critical role in providing essential services and opportunities to the public. He credited the significant progress in Somalia’s financial system to the strong cooperation between the government and the business community.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to increasing support for the banking sector, aiming to boost economic growth and further strengthen Somalia’s financial framework.
