(28 Oct 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre, on Monday met Germany’s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Mr. Heiko Nitzschke in Mogadishu. The two officials reviewed recent progress in Somalia’s international standing and regional engagement.
During the meeting, Mr. Nitzschke congratulated Somalia on key milestones achieved in the last two years, highlighting the nation’s progress in attaining debt relief, joining the East African Community, and securing a seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2025-2026 term.
Prime Minister Barre thanked Germany’s ongoing support and commended Mr. Nitzschke’s efforts toward fostering stability in the region. Both leaders reaffirmed their dedication to deepening Somalia-Germany relations, and emphasised cooperation to advance shared goals and promote stability across the Horn of Africa.
