(19 Nov 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The Jubaland Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission has released the list of members for the new Jubaland Parliament. Per the Jubaland Constitution and Somalia’s Federal Provisional Constitution, the commission announced the names of the 75 members of the regional assembly, who will serve from 2025 to 2030. The members were nominated by their respective traditional elders, with a significant number being returning MPs.
A swearing-in ceremony followed the announcement and is currently underway. The next steps in the process include the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speakers on November 21, followed by the Presidential election scheduled for November 25.
