(10 Nov 2024) RIYADH (Halqabsi News)— President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Riyadh tonight, leading a delegation to participate in high-level meetings with leaders of Arab and Islamic countries. The discussions are focused on the escalating violence and humanitarian crisis affecting Palestinians and Lebanese civilians, with particular emphasis on halting the violence and facilitating emergency aid access to Gaza.
The meetings, held under the auspices of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), bring together leaders and officials from member states to strategise responses to the ongoing crisis. President Hassan Sheikh is expected to engage with various regional leaders, including royals, chiefs, and Islamic representatives, to coordinate support for Palestinian civilians and strengthen ties with the Arab world.
Somalia has historically aligned itself with the Palestinian cause, with strong public support for efforts to protect and assist those affected by the conflict. The Somali government’s participation in these talks underscores its commitment to fostering solidarity and cooperation within the Islamic and Arab spheres amidst growing calls for international intervention.
