(11 Nov 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Security forces in Somalia’s South West region carried out an operation on the outskirts of Qansahdheere district, killing six Al-Shabaab militants, including senior figures.
The operation targeted Welmanas village, 15 km from Qansahdheere. Commanders identified two of the deceased as Nur Kerow Haidar and Shegow Adan Moallim, both accused of enforcing a blockade on the town and extorting locals.
Weapons and three Fekon motorcycles were also seized. The operation is part of intensified efforts by Somali National Army and local forces against Al-Shabaab in the region.
