(16 Feb 2025) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) Hirshabelle’s President Ali Gudlawe has met with the Somali National Army (SNA) commander, General Odowa Yusuf Rage, to discuss ongoing military operations against al-Shabab in the region.
The meeting, held at the president’s office, focused on the progress of the offensives led by the SNA and local forces aimed at eliminating al-Shabab remnants in Hirshabelle. General Rage briefed the president on the current situation.
President Gudlawe praised the efforts of the armed forces and local fighters, acknowledging their sacrifices. “May Allah grant you success in your bravery and selfless role in liberating our country,” he said. He added that Somalia is at a “decisive moment” in its fight against terrorism after years of battles.
Hirshabelle has been a key battleground in the Somali government’s campaign to eradicate al-Shabab strongholds. Military operations in the region have intensified in recent weeks.
