(10-12-25) MOGADISHU (HN) — Somali National Army (SNA) forces have killed a suicide attacker who attempted to force his way into the General Dhagabadan Training Camp, the Army Command confirmed on Wednesday evening. Troops guarding the perimeter opened fire after spotting the assailant wearing an explosive vest, preventing him from breaching the facility.
The device detonated during the confrontation, injuring several camp guards. Officials stressed that security at the site remains fully intact and that the attacker was neutralised before reaching any populated section of the base. The General Dhagabadan Camp, an EU-supported training site under the SNA 3 programme, which provides training, ammunition and capacity-building support, has been targeted multiple times in the past by Al-Shabaab suicide bombers.
Al-Shabaab later claimed responsibility for the latest attempt, alleging it killed 23 soldiers. Security officials dismissed the claim as propaganda, insisting the group failed to penetrate the camp’s defences.
