(10-12-25) MOGADISHU (HN) — National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has announced that its forces carried out a planned operation in the Jambaluul area of Afgooye district, targeting a group of 12 individuals suspected of involvement in militant activity. In a statement, NISA described the suspects as operatives engaged in clandestine operations inside the community.
According to the agency, the raid focused on hideouts and dugouts allegedly used by Al-Shabaab militants to prepare explosives and conduct covert movements. The operation escalated into close-quarter fighting after militants attempted to resist inside a densely populated area, prompting security forces to block what NISA said was an effort to trigger confrontation near civilians.
NISA confirmed that the incident resulted in injuries to civilians as well as two of its officers. Authorities said the wounded are receiving full medical attention and expressed regret over the harm caused to local residents. The government reiterated its commitment to sustained counter-terrorism operations aimed at dismantling extremist networks and urged the public to continue sharing security-related information through official reporting channels.
