(10-12-25) MOGADISHU (HN) — Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre held talks on Wednesday with the Russian Ambassador, Mikhail Golovanov, as the Federal Government steps up its engagement with the diplomatic community in Mogadishu. The meeting is part of a broader strategy to reinforce international partnerships and advance Somalia’s foreign policy priorities.
Officials said the Prime Minister outlined recent advances in security stabilisation, progress in rebuilding state institutions, and ongoing efforts to deliver essential public services across the country. He also briefed the envoy on the impact of prolonged drought conditions and the government’s continuing humanitarian response.
Both sides expressed commitment to enhancing Somalia–Russia relations, noting opportunities for expanded cooperation in political, economic and humanitarian sectors. Ambassador Golovanov welcomed the renewed momentum in bilateral engagement, signalling Moscow’s intention to further strengthen ties as Somalia’s stabilisation efforts progress.
