(09-12-25) MOGADISHU (HN) — Elite Danab Commandos have captured two alleged members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist groups during a security operation in the Towfiiq area of Tooratoorow district in Lower Shabelle, the Ministry of Defence has announced.
According to officials, the suspects were detained while reportedly extorting and intimidating local residents. One of the men, identified as Sakariye, was found—following initial investigations—to be the son of Macallin Cabdirahman Mohamed, a senior Khawaarij figure currently being pursued by Somali security forces.
During the raid, the commandos also seized a motorcycle believed to have been used for militant mobility, along with weapons and other materials indicating preparations for attacks against civilians.
The operation forms part of ongoing nationwide efforts to dismantle Khawaarij networks, restore security in liberated areas, and protect communities from insurgent threats. The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed that security forces will continue targeted operations to ensure the safety and stability of the Somali people.
