(19-Feb-23) Bosaso, Somalia – Abdulqadir Jama Dirir, the commander of the Bari Regional Police Division, was injured in a clash between civilians and security forces in Bosaso, Puntland on Wednesday.
The incident occurred during the demolition of houses near the port of Bosaso, where a shooting broke out as security forces attempted to remove the homes. Angry residents resisted the demolition, saying that it was carried out in an illegal manner.
The clash resulted in the injury of the police commander, who was taken to the hospital for treatment.
This issue comes at a time when the Deni government is demolishing houses built around public interest centers, causing anger and frustration among the affected residents.
The situation remains tense, and security forces have been deployed to restore order in the area. The local authorities have urged residents to remain calm and avoid any further violence.
