House Speaker, Sheikh Adan Madobe and Somali Delegation Arrive in Baghdad for Arab Parliamentary Union Session

(24-Feb-23) Baghdad, Iraq – Speaker of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, has arrived in Baghdad, Iraq, with his delegation to attend the 34th session of the Arab Parliamentary Union. The Speaker was welcomed at the airport by the Somali ambassador to Iraq, Amb. Liban Sheikh Mohamud (Malingur).

Upon his arrival, the Speaker and his delegation were warmly welcomed by the Speaker of the Arab Parliamentary Union and the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mr. Muhamed Al-Halbousi. The delegation was then sent to the guest house where they will be staying during their visit.

During the meeting, the Speaker of the Federal Parliament of Somalia expressed his gratitude to his counterpart for the warm welcome accorded to him and his delegation. This visit is an important opportunity for Somalia to strengthen ties with Iraq and the Arab world as a whole.

The 34th session of the Arab Parliamentary Union is an important forum for the exchange of ideas and the development of policies to address issues affecting the Arab world. It is an opportunity for Somalia to engage in meaningful discussions with its Arab counterparts on issues of mutual interest, such as security, trade, and regional stability.

Somalia remains committed to strengthening ties with its Arab neighbors and participating in forums that promote regional cooperation and development.
