(16-03-23) Belgrade– The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Belgrade and Ambassador Mohamed Abdullahi proudly welcomed a group of Somali students arriving in Serbia to pursue their studies through the “WORLD IN SERBIA” scholarship program. This event signifies the strengthening of diplomatic ties and mutual cooperation between the two countries.

The Serbian scholarship program, “WORLD IN SERBIA,” enables students from various countries to study in Serbia at prestigious universities. The Somali students, having successfully fulfilled the requirements, are now set to embark on their academic journeys in fields such as engineering, medicine, and social sciences.

Ambassador Mohamed Abdullahi expressed his gratitude and excitement for this new chapter in the Somalia-Serbia relationship. “The arrival of these students is a testament to the growing partnership between our nations. We look forward to the opportunities and shared experiences that will result from this collaboration,” he said.

This event follows a recent development in February when Serbia deployed military health professionals to Somalia to provide much-needed medical support to the Somali National Army (SNA). The SNA has been engaged in a long-standing battle against the Al-Shabaab militants, and the Serbian medical team is expected to bolster their efforts.

The scholarship initiative and the recent medical assistance demonstrate the growing relationship between Somalia and Serbia. Both countries seem eager to continue collaborating and supporting each other in various sectors, including education, healthcare, and security.
