(15-04-23) MOGADISHU – The Federal Government of Somalia has announced significant progress in the military operations conducted in the Galmudug areas. General Abdullahi Ali Aanod, the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense, held a press conference in Mogadishu today to provide updates on the recent developments in the region.
In the last three days, the Somali Armed Forces have successfully taken control of multiple key areas in the Galgaduud region. According to General Aanod, the troops managed to seize control of Eel Ahmed, Eel Saban Sablale, and Eel Ali Hassan areas, which are strategically important due to their water wells and grazing land.
General Aanod also reported that the army forces entered the Budbud area earlier today, an area previously under Al-Shabaab control. Upon entering the town, the forces were welcomed by local residents, who have been living under the oppressive rule of the terrorist group. “This morning, the army also completely took control of the Budbud area, which is a large village with many residents,” said the spokesman.
These successful operations have dealt a significant blow to Al-Shabaab, and the Federal Government is now preparing to initiate the second phase of its campaign against the group. “Other operations will come, and that is a preliminary blow by the army to the enemy,” General Aanood added.
The situation in the recently liberated areas is reportedly stable, with the Somali National Army and local residents collaborating to maintain security. The military’s next objective is to pursue Al-Shabaab forces and drive them out of the historical district of Eelbur.
The Somali government’s continued efforts to combat Al-Shabaab and regain control of its territory highlight its commitment to ensuring the safety and stability of the nation.
