(17-04-23) MOGADISHU – The deputy commissioner of security and politics of the Banadir regional administration, Mohamed Ahmed Diriye (Yabooh), on Monday spoke to the media regarding the improved security situation in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. Yabooh emphasized the success of ongoing operations, highlighting the visible changes brought about by these efforts.

The deputy commissioner called for an increase in security operations to ensure the safety and stability of Mogadishu. He urged the security forces to intensify their efforts and encouraged the public to support them in their endeavours.

Yabooh appealed to the citizens, requesting their cooperation with the security forces in order to further develop and enhance the capital. “When it comes to security, the people who rob or kill can be easily caught,” he explained. “Capital cities become decorated and beautiful when the people who live there come to understand and embrace development,” Yabooh added.

Mogadishu has been witnessing extensive security operations, which are being carried out by the security forces in accordance with the government’s plan. A notable change came when Military Police officers, trained in Uganda, were assigned to the majority of the checkpoints in the capital.

The primary goal of these operations is to prevent attacks from the extremist group Al-Shabaab, while also addressing issues caused by gangs and Eyalweero in the neighbourhoods of Mogadishu. With the ongoing collaboration between security forces and the public, the capital is on a path toward increased safety and stability.
