(13-04-23) MOGADISHU – The Deputy Chairman of the National Disaster Management Agency of Somalia (SoDMA), Dr. Ahmed Abdi Aden, welcomed a delegation led by Mr. Roland-Paul Veilleux, Head of the International Medical Corps (IMC) office in Somalia, and Dr. Javed, Global Director of Emergencies, at the Agency’s Headquarters today.
During the meeting, Mr. Veilleux briefed Deputy Chairman Ahmed on the organization’s action plan for their Somalia office. Both parties agreed that SoDMA and IMC should collaborate closely, focusing on emergency prevention, response, and capacity building. The partnership will involve participation in trainings and workshops related to emergency situations, spearheaded by the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC).
The visiting officials toured the facilities of the SoDMA organization, including the emergency operations center and the public hazard warning center. This inspection aimed to provide a better understanding of the existing infrastructure and identify areas where the collaboration between SoDMA and IMC could be most effective.
In his closing remarks, Deputy Chairman Ahmed expressed gratitude to the leaders of the IMC organization for their visit and their commitment to working together with SoDMA. This partnership is expected to enhance both organizations’ capabilities in managing and responding to emergencies and disasters in Somalia, ultimately benefiting the country’s population during times of crisis.
