(24-04-23) MOGADISHU – A planned operation led by Mogadishu mayor, Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madaale), was carried out last night in several districts of Mogadishu, resulting in the seizure of weapons and military uniforms. The operation took place in the second phase in Hodan and Wadajir districts, following an initial phase at Lido Beach.
Security forces entered numerous establishments, including hotels and popular youth hangouts, during the nighttime operation. The deputy of security and politics of Banadir region, Mohamed Ahmed Diriye (Yabooh), informed the media that three soldiers with military uniforms were arrested from one hotel and handed over to security agencies.
Yabooh added that in another location, 45 pairs of military uniforms and three AK47s were seized by security forces and subsequently handed over to the Banadir regional police department. The operation also targeted centres where “immoral” activities and drug use were taking place, involving both young men and women.
The governor emphasized that these operations will continue with the goal of combating drug use and inappropriate behaviour. He mentioned another location, Posh, where numerous young people were found in darkened rooms, stating that the mission will persist for some time.
During the first phase of the operation at Lido Beach, the mayor of Mogadishu was seen canning the youth at a nightclub. The governor’s office is determined to maintain a strong security presence and address issues impacting the citizen’s safety and well-being.
