(13-04-23) MOGADISHU – Somali Infantry Commander General Mohamed Tahliil Bihi announced in a recent press conference that the military is investigating the ambush tactics used by the Al-Shabaab terrorist group. General Bihi assured the nation that measures are being taken to prevent future attacks on military installations and personnel.
General Bihi spoke to national media, vowing that Al-Shabaab will no longer be able to attack army headquarters or pose a threat to the nation. “We have made a decision about the Al-Shabaab attacks on the army camps; if they have something to do with each other, let them attack now,” he challenged.
General Bihi emphasized the preparedness of the Somali military, stating that no army is vulnerable to Al-Shabaab’s attacks and that they are protected against any conspiracy. He reassured the public that the military will prevent the terrorist group from causing harm or threatening citizens again.
In addition, General Bihi revealed that internal conflicts within Al-Shabaab have led to a significant decrease in the group’s power. Reports indicate that mistrust among the militants has resulted in a major conflict, with many members handing over their weapons to local communities for safekeeping. This development is expected to weaken Al-Shabaab’s capabilities further.
According to General Bihi, the Somali military has received information about a violent clash between Al-Shabaab factions that resulted in multiple casualties. The Somali Infantry Commander’s statements suggest that the national military is determined to capitalize on this internal strife and continue its efforts to dismantle the terrorist group.
