(14-04-23) MOGADISHU – Brigadier General Sulub Ahmed Firin, the Chief of the Somali Police Force, welcomed the Head of the European Union Capacity Building in Somalia (EUCAPSOM), Kauko Aaltomaa, and other officials to his office in Mogadishu on Thursday. The meeting focused on enhancing the existing relationship between the Somali Police Force and EUCAPSOM, particularly in the recently liberated areas from Alshabaab.

The high-level discussion centered on a variety of issues, including the augmentation of police forces and the training of the Somali Police Command. Both parties highlighted the importance of cooperation to ensure stability and security in the areas freed from extremist control.

EUCAPSOM has been a key partner in assisting the Somali Police Force with capacity building, providing essential training and resources to ensure the development of a professional and effective policing institution. The EU-CAP Agency’s support has been pivotal in improving the capabilities of the Somali Police Force, contributing to the country’s ongoing efforts to restore order and maintain security.

The meeting between Brigadier General Sulub and Kauko Aaltomaa reflects the ongoing commitment of both parties to work closely together in the fight against terrorism and the pursuit of stability in Somalia. The collaboration between the Somali Police Force and EUCAPSOM has already shown significant progress, and this latest meeting is expected to further solidify their partnership.

As Somalia continues to face challenges from extremist groups and criminal networks, the reinforcement of its police force and its collaboration with international partners like EUCAPSOM will be vital in ensuring the safety and security of its citizens. The meeting held in Mogadishu signals a promising future for the cooperation between the Somali Police Force and the EU-CAP Agency, ultimately working towards the common goal of peace and stability in Somalia.
