(02-05-23) MOGADISHU – In a decisive military operation, the Somali national army captured two Al-Shabaab conspirators who had escaped from a prior engagement in the Eel-Qaboobe area of Harardhere district in the Mudug region. The individuals were apprehended today in the Howdley area, located between Eeldheer and Harardhere, after surviving a late-night operation that resulted in the deaths of over 60 Al-Shabaab militants.
The Monday night’s operation targeted a group of militants who were attempting to smuggle dangerous chemicals for the purpose of manufacturing explosives. These materials were intended to be brought ashore in the Mudug region. Among the casualties were foreign leaders who had been assisting the Al-Shabaab group in their efforts to create deadly explosions targeting the civilian population.
The swift and effective actions of the national army in the Eeldheer district have dealt a significant blow to the Al-Shabaab terrorist organization. The capture of the two conspirators and the elimination of over 60 militants, including key foreign leaders, has disrupted the group’s plans to cause further harm and chaos in the region.
The military’s success in the Mudug region highlights their commitment to protecting the nation and its citizens from the ongoing threat of terrorism. As the security forces continue to pursue and dismantle Al-Shabaab cells, they remain vigilant in their efforts to ensure the safety and security of the people they serve.
