(18-05-23) MOGADISHU – The Court of Bay region in Southwest Somalia, early on Thursday morning, executed two men, Adan Ali Abdi and Mohamed Geedow Nurow, after their convictions in cases of murder committed in Baidoa. This act of state-led justice brings the total number of executed individuals to six this year.
Adan Ali Abdi and Mohamed Geedow Nurow were found guilty of the murders of Macalin Dahir Abdullahi Mukhtar and Jamal Abdikarin Maadey respectively. The court proceedings revealed their grim deeds, making the executions public in an attempt to deter future criminal activities.
“We are obligated to uphold justice and ensure the safety of our people,” said Judge Ahmed Farah, the presiding judge over the trials of Abdi and Nurow. “Our actions today serve as a firm reminder that heinous crimes will not go unpunished.”
The convicts, along with the other four previously executed, were also found to be associated with Al-Shabaab. This connection further emphasizes the severity of their crimes and underlines the necessity for stringent law enforcement.
