(07-05-23) MOGADISHU – The President of Hirshabelle State of Somalia Ali Gudlawe Hussein presided over a cabinet meeting on Saturday evening to discuss a wide range of issues including security, flood management, and healthcare in the region. Among the key topics discussed were operations to free Hirshabelle areas from the Al-Shabaab group, management of floods in the Shabelle River, stabilization program progress, the Somalia Crisis Recovery Project (SCRP), and the Jowhar Hospital’s current situation.
The Minister of Internal Security reported on the successes achieved in the Khawarij operations and the preparations for the second phase of operations to eradicate the Al-Shabaab group. The Minister of Internal Affairs and Local Government then provided an update on the progress of the Stabilization Program being implemented in the liberated areas, which aims to provide essential government services to the public.
The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education informed the cabinet about the recruitment process for teachers, noting that exams for 400 new teachers are nearing completion. This development marks a significant step towards improving the quality of education in the region.
Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Health and the Governor of the Middle Shabelle Regional Government discussed the current situation of the Jowhar Regional Hospital. The hospital is a crucial healthcare provider in the Hirshabelle area, and improvements to its services and facilities are seen as essential for the community’s well-being.
The President thanked the Assembly for their updates and urged them to expedite the difficult tasks ahead. This cabinet meeting highlights the Hirshabelle government’s commitment to addressing the state’s pressing challenges and working towards a safer, more stable, and prosperous future for Hirshabelle.
