(25-05-23) MOGADISHU – National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) made confiscation of weapons and explosives following operations in Hodan and Howladaag Districts of Mogadishu on Thursday. This represents a major success in their ongoing efforts to ensure the security and stability of the capital city.
According to a NISA statement, a large cache of weapons and related materials were seized from a vehicle and its driver. The successful operation also resulted in the arrest of another individual found in a house teeming with additional weaponry, which is now securely in the hands of the Security Forces.
This significant achievement comes shortly after the Mogadishu Port and Airport saw the interception of two containers, as reported by the government. These operations indicate a strong tightening of security measures in the capital.
State minister for internal security Mohamed Ali Hagaa, told the media that NISA forces have captured a large cache of weapons and explosive materials from Al Shabaab. He lauded the Security Agency’s efforts to disrupt the militant group’s plans.
“The operations carried out by the NISA are key in averting Al Shabaab’s intentions,” said Minister Hagaa. “The tremendous work done by our forces in ensuring our country’s safety and security is truly commendable.”
Mogadishu’s security has gotten better, with police forces maintaining a vigilant presence on the city streets, and conducting thorough checks on both public and private vehicles. This heightened security presence aims to reassure residents and deter any potential threats.
Recently, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud spoke on the matter, praising the troops trained in Uganda for their substantial contribution to the peace and stability of Mogadishu. He hailed the new army’s diligent work in protecting the capital city and ensuring the safety of its people.
