(14-05-23) GALKAYO Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni urged for increased security measures to safeguard the upcoming elections in Puntland, scheduled for May 25, 2023. Speaking last night in Galkayo, Deni addressed the importance of protecting the electoral process and the votes of the people.
Deni also called on politicians opposing the elections to reconsider their stance and support democratic progress. “We must rationalize those who are opposed to the idea of democracy and government building, and remind them that the country is your country,” he said.
The president’s remarks came during a local government election campaign event organized by the Kaah political party at the presidential headquarters in Galkayo. The call for enhanced security aims to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process, a cornerstone of Puntland’s ongoing democratic development.
