(15-05-23) MOGADISHU – President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has called on Somali youth to actively engage in politics and contribute to the nation’s development. Speaking at a youth meeting held in honour of Somali Youth Day at SYL in Mogadishu on Monday, the President emphasized the crucial role that the younger generation can play in the country’s progress.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud encouraged the youth to pool their strength, voices, and wisdom in order to effect change, promote national unity, and fight corruption. He highlighted the importance of their involvement in implementing a multi-party system and the completion of the country’s constitution, which are essential for Somalia’s long-term stability and progress.
“You must want politics, and to seek it, you must be organized and have leadership and a system to work together to achieve what you want, then no one can stand in your way,” President Hassan said, stressing the need for the youth to be proactive in the political sphere.

During the event, the youth participants shared their thoughts and suggestions for the betterment of the nation with the President. They also asked about the government’s plans for providing opportunities and addressing their rights. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud answered their questions and encouraged the youth to support the government in its efforts to establish the rule of law and good governance.
