(30-05-23) MOGADISHU — The Speaker of Parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor, widely known as Madobe, and his delegation landed in Barawe on Tuesday, the capital of the South West state, on a strategic mission to discuss important political issues, including the upcoming election for the Speaker of the South West Parliament.
On arrival at Barawe’s airport, the Speaker was met by a welcoming party led by South West President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen, along with key members of the Regional Administration, the Women’s Association, and various community officials.
Throughout his stay, Speaker Madobe is scheduled to hold discussions with various stakeholders, including the Barawe District Administration, Army Officers, and members from different sections of the society. This proactive move is seen as an attempt to understand the issues better while providing an avenue for dialogues that could result in improved governance.
The visit comes at a critical time, given that the position of the Speaker of the South West Parliament is vacant, following the ascension of the former Speaker, Ali Said Faqi, to the membership of the Federal Parliament. This key discussion topic is expected to dominate the Speaker’s engagement in Barawe, as the process to fill the vacant position gets underway.
The visit underscores the importance of fostering strong inter-regional ties within the Federal Republic of Somalia and ensuring a seamless political transition in the South West state. As the country navigates the complexities of its parliamentary system.
