(04-06-23) MOGADISHU — Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamsa Abdi Barre, held a significant meeting with Germany’s Minister of State for Development and Economic Cooperation, Jochen Flasbarth, in Mogadishu on Sunday, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Mr Barre extended Somalia’s commitment towards fostering stronger relations with Germany. He acknowledged and expressed gratitude for Germany’s extensive support in various key sectors including economic development, humanitarian assistance, democratic processes, stabilisation of liberated areas, and training for Somali armed forces and police.
“We have been receiving considerable support from Germany in numerous areas that are critical to our nation’s development and stability,” Prime Minister Barre stated. “We look forward to further fortifying our ties and making collaborative strides in our shared commitment to prosperity and peace.”
Mr Flasbarth reciprocated these sentiments, expressing his gratitude for the warm reception and the mutual desire for a deeper diplomatic relationship. The German minister highlighted the existing collaboration between the two governments and their joint efforts in reconstructing and rehabilitating the economic infrastructure of Somalia.
