(29-07-23), MOGADISHU – The Defense Minister, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, appeared today before the Members of Parliament to address crucial concerns pertaining to national security. During the parliamentary session, Minister Nur provided comprehensive updates on the progress of ongoing operations against terrorist groups, discussed army reforms, and highlighted recent developments in military agreements.
In his address to the parliamentarians, Minister Nur presented detailed information about the successful missions carried out by the armed forces in their relentless efforts to counter terrorist threats. He praised the dedication and bravery of the military personnel in their fight against extremist elements that seek to destabilise the nation.
One significant issue that the Minister touched upon was the recent tragic suicide attack at the Jaalle Siyaad Military Base in Mogadishu. The attack, which occurred last week, resulted in the loss of at least 25 soldiers’ lives. Minister Nur revealed that several suspects are currently in custody and that an investigation into the attack is underway.
According to the Minister’s statement, the investigation is exploring the possibility of internal involvement. The House Speaker, Aden Madobe, expressed suspicions that traitors within the ranks may have facilitated the Al-Shabaab bombing.
