(27/07/23) MOGADISHU – The head of ATMIS, General Souef Mohamed El-Amine, met with the Speaker of the Somali Parliament, Sheik Adan Mohamed Nur, in Mogadishu. The meeting was aimed at discussing peace, national reconciliation, and the security situation in Somalia.
During the meeting, General Souef Mohamed El-Amine reaffirmed ATMIS’s support for the progress made in constitutional reforms, the fight against corruption, and the reinforcement of the rule of law. He also condemned the recent attack against the military academy in Mogadishu, which resulted in several casualties.
Both parties stressed the importance of sustaining efforts towards democracy in Somalia, emphasising that a stable and democratic political environment is integral to achieving lasting peace and prosperity in the nation. They also expressed their commitment to working together to overcome challenges and make meaningful strides towards peace and stability in Somalia.
