(2/08/23) DHUSAMAREB – The President of Galmudug State, Ahmed Abdi Kariye, on Wednesday, initiated a two-day summit in Dhusamareb, with the key agenda of liberating areas currently under the control of Al-Shabaab, a notorious terrorist group.

In his opening speech, President QorQor urged that the moment has arrived to reclaim Galmudug areas that remain in these insurgents’ hands. The meeting will elaborate on leveraging the support the central government offers to facilitate the liberation of Galmudug.

Cities on the agenda for liberation include Elbur, Galhareeri, Eelgaras, and El-Lahelay, amongst other key towns situated in the eastern and southern parts of Mudug and Galgaduud.

The President emphasised that Galmudug residents are deliberating on their contributions to the national effort against Al-Shabaab. Asserting the urgency of the situation, Qor Qor announced plans for the swift eradication of Al-Shabaab from Galmudug.

The anticipation in Dhusamareb is heightened with news of top country leaders preparing for their visit to the city. An official declaration detailing Galmudug’s role in this war against Al-Shabaab is anticipated at the conclusion of the two-day gathering.

National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Commander, Mahad Salad, has arrived in Dhusamareb on Tuesday, gearing up for a meeting with the country’s President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, in the days to come.

President Mohamud plans to reside in Dhusamareb for a month, advancing as each area is liberated from Al-Shabaab’s control. Preparations are underway to welcome the presidential delegation. This ambitious initiative signifies a momentous step towards restoring peace and stability in the affected regions.
