(21-08-23) DHUSAMAREB – Somali armed forces, prominently led by the Khalid Bin Walid Brigade, on Monday successfully targeted and obliterated Alshabaab strongholds in the countryside of Galgudud region, significantly bolstering the ongoing efforts to eradicate the extremist group from the region.
Commander Mohamed Dhagaweyne of the Khalid Bin Walid Brigade, the spearhead of the decisive offensive, provided confirmation to the National Media. He specified that the Al-Shabaab positions located in the forest territories under the purview of Run-nirgood districts, Galcad, have been decisively annihilated.
Commander Dhagaweyne firmly stated, “Our mission is clear-cut. We will relentlessly pursue Al-Shabaab, ensuring their ejection from every nook and cranny within the Galgaduud region.”
The Somali National Army pledges to rid the nation of Alshabaab by the close of 2024. As the first phase of the offensive wraps up in Galmudug and Hirshabelle, the forces are gearing up for the next leg of the mission — liberating South West and Jubaland in the subsequent phase.
