(19-10-23) HUDUR — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud visited Hudur, Bakool, on Thursday, unveiling a new strategy to eliminate Al-Shabaab. Accompanied by Parliament Speaker Sheikh Adan Madobe and Defence Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, Mohamud disclosed a comprehensive plan focusing on liberating the South West region as a cornerstone for national peace.
Mohamud stated, “The war on that side is over,” referring to previous successes in Galmudug and Hirshabelle, and stressed the importance of unity between the South West and Jubbaland states. Local Bakool leaders pledged their full support for the anti-Shabaab military efforts.
President Mohamud also directed district officials in Al-Shabaab-occupied areas to prepare for imminent military operations. He highlighted the accomplishments of the first phase of operations, noting the recapture of key territories and the elimination of several extremist leaders. Elders from Baidoa, South West, expressed strong support for the President’s strategies on Wednesday evening.
