The clashes, which commenced at 9:00 a.m. local time, took place in Jicibow village under the administration of Buuloburde. Official reports confirm at least 15 casualties, including both government and Al-Shabaab forces, with several more injured.
Led by General Farah Ali Wasuge, commander of the country’s 27th division, and supported by officials such as MP Mohamed Abduqadir Mohamed, the military operation aims to oust Al-Shabaab from regions surrounding the Shabelle River. This waterway is of strategic importance and has been a focal point of military activity for several days.
