(02-10-23) MOGADISHU — Recently nominated Commander of Land Forces, Colonel Dayax Abdi Abddulle, visited the Hirshabelle frontlines on Monday to inspect Somali army units stationed on the frontlines. Military personnel warmly welcomed the commander and his delegation upon their arrival.
The inspection aims to gauge the readiness and operational efficacy of the troops engaged in combating Al-Shabaab militants, particularly near the strategic town of Mahaday on the Shabelle River banks. Over the past month, the Somali National Army and local forces have been engaged in intense fighting with Al-Shabaab militants in the area.
“Assessing our troops’ preparedness is critical to the success of our ongoing operations against Al-Shabaab,” Abdullahi Ali a military official told Halqabsi News.
Col. Abddulle’s visit is expected to serve as a morale booster for the forces on the ground, providing an occasion for both strategic dialogue and a first-hand assessment of the situation.
