(07-10-23) MOGADISHU — A delegation led by Abdiqadir Ahmed Awcali Firdhiye, the leader of the SCC-Khatumo administration, arrived in Mogadishu on Saturday for talks with Somali federal leaders and United Nations agencies.
The meeting, arranged at the invitation of Prime Minister Hamze Abdi Barre, aims to discuss current developments in the contested regions of Sool, Sanag, and Ayn, collectively known as SCC-Khatumo.
Firdhiye is also scheduled to meet with representatives from the international community, notably United Nations agencies and donors. These discussions are expected to focus on how development projects and humanitarian aid will be transferred to the newly elected leadership of SCC-Khatumo.
Last month, SCC-Khatumo forces removed the Somaliland army from the disputed areas, ending an eight-month-long conflict between the two sides.
