(22-10-23) WASHINGTON — The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, arrived in Washington DC on Sunday for a series of high-level discussions with his American counterparts.
Mr. Madobe was warmly welcomed at Dulles Airport by members of the United States House of Representatives, along with diplomats from the Somali Embassy in the United States.
The visit came in response to an official invitation from leaders of the US House of Representatives, according to a statement from the information office of the Somali House of Representatives.
High on the agenda are discussions aimed at fostering closer ties between the legislative bodies of the United States and Somalia. The visit underscores the deepening relationship between the two nations, who share interests in counter-terrorism, development, and regional stability.
