(20-11-23) BOSASO — The Puntland Intelligence and Security Agency (PISA) on Sunday evening successfully foiled a planned series of mine explosions in Bosaso, the capital of the Bari region, The agency neutralized the IEDs, planted by terrorists, which was placed at the entrance of a building occupied by a construction company.
Officials revealed that the targeted explosives, identified as guided landmines, were designed for remote detonation via mobile phones. This sophisticated mechanism of activation points to a high degree of planning and technical know-how by the perpetrators.
The thwarted attacks are attributed to the terrorist militias of Al-Shabaab and ISIS-Somalia (Daesh), known for their operations in the mountainous areas of the Bari region. PISA’s effective monitoring and intelligence gathering have been crucial in averting this potential disaster.
