(26-11-23) MOGADISHU — The Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) has awarded Freedom Airlines, a prominent player in the Somali aviation sector, with a coveted Aviation Security Program certificate. The award, presented on Sunday, signifies a major achievement for the airline, marking it as the first to meet the comprehensive security standards required by the SCAA.
The ceremony saw Ahmed Macallin Hassan, General Manager of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, handing over the certificate to Mukhtar Hamud, manager of Freedom Airlines in Somalia. During the presentation, Mr. Ahmed Macallin elucidated the rigorous evaluation process undertaken by the SCAA. “Today’s event is not just a milestone for Freedom Airlines but also a testament to our commitment to stringent security protocols in line with our national civil aviation security program,” he stated.
Freedom Airlines has consistently led the way in setting benchmarks within the Somali aviation industry. It was the first airline to receive the Somalia SIX OSCER (6O) air license in February 2021, further cementing its status as a leader in adhering to international aviation standards. The award of the Aviation Security Program certificate to Freedom Airlines is a significant stride in enhancing the safety and operational standards of Somali aviation.
