(06/11/23) MOGADISHU — The Somali government forces, in collaboration with local forces, on Monday successfully executed a series of strategic operations against Al-Shabaab militants in the border areas of Galgaduud and Middle Shabelle regions.
The armed forces penetrated the dense forests, a known refuge for Al-Shabaab, and reclaimed several key areas including Hilowle Gaab, Dumaye, Kalabeir, and Haji Ga’al in the Middle Shabelle region. This advancement is a significant blow to the militant group, disrupting their stronghold in these regions.
Abdulle Mohamud Abdi, a leader of the local forces in eastern Galgaduud, informed government media about the operations and their achievements. He emphasised the commitment to pursuing the remaining Al-Shabaab members, ensuring their capture and subsequent legal prosecution.
