(10-12-23) MOGADISHU (HN) — Al-Shabaab militants targeted the village of Oodley in the Galgaduud region on Sunday, resulting in six deaths. The ambush, executed with two Toyota Land Cruisers, claimed the life of Abdullahi Shamley, a key figure in the local Macawisley militia.
The attackers, suspected of having inside intelligence, struck a village restaurant, also abducting two men. The victims, including those kidnapped and those killed, were members of the Waceysle clan of Abgaal.
Oodley is strategically positioned between Harardhere and Eeldher, which have recently witnessed an increase in local armed resistance against Al-Shabaab. Despite the intervention of the national armed forces, their subsequent retreat has left a security vacuum in the area.
