(10-01-24) LAS ANOD (Halqabsi News) — At least eight people were killed and over ten others injured when a clash erupted this morning between the towns of Las Anod and Gambadhe. The confrontation involved two militia groups, both allied with the SSC-Khaatumo administration. According to initial reports, the conflict is believed to have been ignited by a dispute over a military vehicle, originally seized from the Somaliland military during the Gooja-cadde conflict late last year.
Eyewitness reports suggest that the skirmish unfolded in the vicinity of Maraaga after soldiers from the Gumays area were ambushed by an opposing troop contingent who took over the disputed vehicle.
The attacked convoy has now arrived in the Gambadhe area, where they are stationed. Calls on both sides to stop the conflict were made.
