(31-01-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Somalia’s former President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed ‘Farmaajo’ has welcomed the upcoming Garowe conference, which aims to address pressing issues and promote national cohesion.
During a recent meeting with current President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Doha, the former leader said that he had emphasised the importance of thorough national consultations, focusing mainly on constitutional amendments, the country’s structural governance, and the ongoing threats to the nation from extremism.
The former president emphasised the conference’s significance, urging all former and present leaders to participate in these critical discussions. Furthermore, the previous head of state urged Somalia’s Federal Parliament and the current government to work together to achieve consensus.
The announcement of the Garowe summit came from President Said Abdullahi Deni after his recent meeting with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Garowe.
