(21-01-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre visited the Ministry of Women and Human Rights Headquarters in Mogadishu on Sunday. The visit aimed to evaluate the ongoing work and responsibilities of the ministry, especially in light of the recent passing of Minister Khadija Mohamed Diriye, whose contribution to the docket and nation was significant.
In his address, Prime Minister Hamza emphasised the critical role of the Women’s Ministry, particularly highlighting its importance in enhancing the situation of women and human rights in the country.
Further, Mr Barre acknowledged the key role Somali women have historically played and continue to play in society. He praised their fundamental contribution to the upbringing of children and their resilient participation in the nation’s varied historical challenges.
He also recognised their unwavering commitment to the defence and development of Somalia, illustrating the indispensable role of women in the nation’s journey towards peace and prosperity.
