(29-01-24) GAROWE (Halqabsi News) — Renage army commander General Jimale Jama Takar, who was aligned with opposition groups in the recently concluded regional parliamentary and presidential elections, has reconciled with President Said Abdullahi Deni following a meeting at Senator Abdirahman Farole’s, former Puntland leader’s, residence in Garowe.
The meeting resolved to end the dispute between the Puntland government and the army commander. The accord calls for the reintegration of commanders’ forces into the regional military structure, ensuring the restoration of their military entitlements.
Both parties have agreed to start implementing the deal within a week as a sign of their commitment to upholding it. Part of the implementation phase includes an expected visit by President Deni to the commander’s forces, who are based at the Ligle military camp on the outskirts of Garowe, to address them and affirm their importance for regional security and peace.
