(22-02-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Somalia’s Education Minister Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir has announced that the government intends to increase the number of teachers in national schools to expand the scope of fundamental educational services.
In a concerted effort to strengthen the teaching workforce, the government will hire 3,000 new teachers in March of this year, who will be strategically dispersed across the country. By 2025, the number of teachers employed by the government is expected to increase to 10,000, according to Minister Abdulkadir.
The expansion is part of the government’s overall effort to improve educational quality in the country. It greatly boosts the education budget, from 3% to 10%.
Minister Abdulkadir emphasised the transformative power of educational development, highlighting its role in promoting national growth and relieving poverty.
