(02-03-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The Federal Ministry of Interior and Reconciliation of Somalia on Saturday formalised a partnership with the Interpeace agency to advance the national reconciliation plan and peacebuilding in the country. This collaboration is observed by an agreement signed by Mr. Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, Somalia’s Minister of Interior, and Mr. Itonde Kakoma, the President of Interpeace in Mogadishu.
The agreement is centred on the Real National Reconciliation Process, aiming to foster social integration, and coexistence, and comprehensively address reconciliation issues. This initiative is expected to empower communities and government agencies involved in peace efforts throughout Somalia.
At the signing ceremony, Minister Fiqi remarked, “We are delighted with this collaboration with Interpeace, which signifies the creation of an environment conducive to peace, anchored in the principles of the national reconciliation process. This is crucial for the stability and development of Somalia.”
Mr. Kakoma, representing Interpeace, emphasised the importance of the agreement, “This partnership signifies a major step forward in our commitment to the Real Process of National Reconciliation in Somalia. It is essential for the peace and unity of the country.”
The agreement between the Ministry and Interpeace is seen to address Somalia’s ongoing efforts to build peace and reconcile divisions within its society.
