(14-03-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Abdikarin Ahmed Bulhan, a renowned local journalist and director of the Taakulo Centre in Somalia’s Galgaduud region, was killed late Wednesday after a dispute with a security guard escalated, officials reported Thursday.
The conflict, occurring at the centre managed by Bulhan, rapidly intensified, resulting in him being shot in the head. Despite prompt medical attention, Bulhan succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. As a respected peace advocate and representative of the National Media, his death has shocked the local community.
The Taakulo Centre, noted for its partnership between the community and Galmudug’s Ministry of Education, is reeling from the loss of its influential leader. Known for his dedication to peace and education, Bulhan was popularly referred to as ‘Teach Yourself Peace’, a pseudonym he adopted on social media to spread his message of non-violence.
In response to the incident, local authorities have launched a manhunt for the absconding security guard. Security forces across the region are engaged in extensive operations to locate and apprehend the fugitive.
